My firend is a victim of investment fraud in South Florida, and has spent the last 2 years getting back on his feet. He is probably one of the most honest and giving people I know. Yet during this time period he has not made a car payment in over a year. Needless to say, his tag is expired. He has now gotten to a place where he can start paying on the car again. However, he thinks that by now the owners of the car may have reported it stollen. Does he have a legal way to get out of this without having to go to court or possibly jail?
